Duchesne House and our neighbor, the Community Book Center are teaming up  with the New Orleans Public Library for a screening of the Disney animated film, "Coco" as part of their Discovering Family Histories program.   Filled with images of family members who have passed on, the film invites viewers young and old to come together around the holidays  to discover and reclaim their family narratives, filling in missing pieces of their family history, honoring their elders as "living libraries" and learning how to safeguard important family documents.   Discovering Family Histories brings presenters, including local geneologists and culture bearers, to help families learn how to gather, document, research, preserve and celebrate thier family’s history by offering a free series of interactive SATURDAY workshops:

NOV 3: How to do Ancestry Research
NOV 10: Collecting Family Histories
DEC 1: Archiving Family Data

The worksops will all take place from 2-4PM at the Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center, 2200 Lafitte Ave. ,New Orleans, 70119.  All are welcome.
